To ensure you are ready for study at university, it is important to participate in the orientation and learning support activities for QUT students. Getting Started with Learning @ QUT is a program especially designed to give you a successful start at university.

This program of events runs throughout Orientation week, and details of the dates and times sessions will be running are available on the Orientation website, in the printed Orientation program and via links provided below. All sessions are free. However, as places may be limited and to assist us with ensuring that we can provide the most effective session, you will need to register as indicated for each session below.

Use this checklist to identify what skills you may need to develop or improve to to be a successful student, and then consider which of the following seminars and workshops may benefit you.

Computing @ QUT


Learn about QUT's online environment in a hands-on workshop. Topics covered include Online Learning and Teaching (OLT), QUT Virtual and email. To register, contact the IT Helpdesk on 3138 4000 or email ithelpdesk@qut.edu.au. Go to the IT Helpdesk website for further information.

Library tours: Kelvin Grove branch library


If you are studying most of your course at Kelvin Grove campus, this is your opportunity to become familiar with the Library layout, services and facilities. Take a short tour so you know where to find what you need! Registration is NOT required. Go to the Library website for further information.

Getting Started @ Your Library


More than a tour! Become familiar with your branch library layout, services and facilities AND learn how to use the catalogue online self service options to look up your borrowing record, renew your loans and request a loan on a book from another branch library. Successful Study Practices


These interactive sessions introduce you to the life and expectations of a university student at QUT. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and meet fellow students. Go to the Teaching and Learning Support Services website for further details.
